Ambition….

I wish to be a singer so that I can sing thy name in every passing moment….

I wish to be a dancer so that I can shape my own body into a garland at thy feet….

I wish to be a painter so that I can mark the imprints of thy love….in every color and form….

I wish to be a poet so that each word I say will naturally become a prayer….

I wish to be a farmer so that I can reap thy boundless joy in the fields of my heart….

I wish to be a traveler so that I can seek thee on every stretch of land….

I wish to be a builder so that I can make every brick raised into a temple for thee…

I wish to be a sculptor and carve out your divine dream from the boulders of my habits….

I wish to be a slave and wash thy feet every single day…

I wish to be a maid and tend thee in any meager way…

I wish to be a friend for thee to share a secret…

Above all I wish to be a lover so that I can love thee in every way…..

MNIK, World Peace and SRK’s Epiglottis!

So here it goes, as expected… about the one whose name is Khan… Khan, from the epiglottis, by the way! But before I do that I must confess that I am one of those shahrukh haters, who are actually Amir Lovers, (though not lover enough to be called a fan or anything…)

This very commonly unattractive looking Delhi boy came up to Mumbai and became King Khan (don’t forget the right pronunciation! Khan, that’s from the epiglottis!) And with his larger-than-life attitude, style and confidence he covered up for his inadequate frame and looks. About acting skills, it never marks for much in main stream bolly-flicks!

They seem to believe that if you stay stuck in the industry for long enough, you learn up to fool the cameras (and viewers) to think you can act…. And as you get exposed to better and better directors, naturally your acting skills (if there are traces of any) are honed and polished. Many of the Bollywood stars have been hopeless actors in the beginning….but with perseverance and most importantly zero sensitivity towards criticism; they learnt acting and stardom both….

So now this very same SRK has now come up with a new concoction of love and tears…. But so very unlike his usual brand! I have to confess that he seems to actually act these days…. At some points in the movie he was almost out of his silver celebrity-hood, being a real sensitive man out there! After years of toiling…..seems he is really a star enough to shine! He can repair almost anything, (he says so in the movie) and that includes his acting!

The movie has this whole big concept of universal love that goes beyond the fences of race, color and nationality. Terrorism is not born of any religion, but it is born of narrow minded, weak-heart, selfish people who are born in any nation, any race, any religion! The only difference that can be made amongst people is whether they are good or bad. It is the goodness of heart that makes man a man…..

The Karan Johar, Shahrukh Khan and Kajol trio seems to make justice to this really big concept. While defending the basic of religion, which is always humanity, they do not attack anyone else. Use of different verses from Koran Sharif has added great justification and sense of faith.

If you are little more mature than SRK, you will know that humanity, love and religion are not just so shallow as to choose between a bullet and a rose. humanity is only the first step… religion and faith are much deeper realms of truth than that to explore. But for a traveler on the road towards the truth, humanity is not a negligible milestone. It takes more than a human body, to become a human in true sense. And MNIK, though not high enough to cross the humanity, at least manages to touch it!

I will not discuss the story, though I must mention that it is structured very well. It is quick where it must be, and it lingers, giving emphasis at right points. Though you must put up with the melodrama part of bollywoodian culture! That is what makes a movie digestible to masses! And for Amir Khan Lovers, if you could stand the melodrama of 3 Idiots, SRK has dished out too little for your appetite!

But when it comes to screenplay, Shibani Bathija has managed to touch every nook of the concept, yet not make it sound like a documentary! Right from the references of Mumbai riots to 9/11, every reaction, every socio-cultural transform is captured well….that too, on a global scale. She has indeed managed to yield the best of story possible. In addition, there is also family bonding part (which cannot be forsaken by KJo!)

Knowing Karan Johar and the way he puts in money where he must, the cinematography and locations are very well done. It is not always Swiss meadows in the background! Arizona desert landscapes and dusty raw American locations make it look a lot more realistic than I expected from KJo! But he gets a negative marking for the set up of a village in Georgia. In some scenes it kind of shows up as a toy village indeed!

Overall, the big message and story rules out all the flaws and makes you watch the movie in rapt attention throughout. I would say make a point to watch it if you are not as busy as the President of America. And it is not much of a hindi film, considering most conversations go in English. And a special note, to watch this movie, you do not have to be a Khan, an Indian or even an Asian….. It can be watched by global viewer, of any country, any race. If you have seen or suffered the burns of terrorism of any kind, violent or subtle, you will understand and identify with this movie very easily.

PS: It is ironical coincidence why ShivSena chose to oppose this movie of all! SRK has enough bad movies to protest against! But they chose the exact movie that is going to ensure mass support towards SRK…. There is a saying in Sanskrit, Vinash Kaale Vipareet Buddhi meaning, when it is time to perish, you take wrong decisions on your own.

Fulfilled…

Again I stand at the ground zero

Unable to know which way to go…

Again I’m here with my bleeding heart

My wings are cut, I’m fallen apart…

Again I watch the blazing sun

far beyond my reach of run….

Again I wish in sullen melancholy…

Does my dream have a chance really?

May be something’s wrong with the dream itself…

I jumped to own the God himself!

My two tiny hands can’t hold his glory….

But my heart hides a long secret story…

Since it learnt to sing its pulse…

It sang thy name in very verse…

I can’t console my weeping heart…

Unable to give up, again I start…

Now I am robbed of everything I had…

My body is sore…my weather is bad…

My two tiny hands folded into prayer…

I close my eyes and my song aquiver…

I can’t reach thee, my feet so fickle…

I am robbed of the world; I own not a nickel…

But since when thy glory is confined?

Since when thy love cares for the defined?

I heard thee loveth all the same…

Thy glory lives longer than fame…

I tried my best, I toiled till I broke…

Still you deny me, still you forsook…

I wasn’t a saint, I wasn’t a king…

An insignificant one in thy fling…

I could be crushed under mighty feet…

Happily walked to the death I’d meet…

But you make me exist, survive and live….

You make me dream, smile and believe…

Now I give up….thy dreams, thy visions…

I care for nothing, neither for thy mission…

I want thee, only thy face to see…

I want thy love deeper than the sea…

Come to me if thee ever loved me…

Hold me close, never leave me…

Then I will be drowned in thy sweet rose….

I will say yes, to everything you propose….

I will live for thee, and die for thee…

My every heartbeat will sing for thee…

Thy gaze will heal when I am fallen apart…

Thy love will blossom, spread from my heart….

I will be your hand in everything you perform

I will be your sword, in the wars of reform….

My mind my soul was lost in the dream again…

In that moment no tears remain!

Glow of thousand suns fell over me….

Great Joy of love burst within….

In that moment I found your secret…

Not in the skies, you hid in my heart!

My prayer was answered…

And my love was fulfilled…

Keys of success…

The world is full of schools that teach us how to succeed. But yet why are there so many failures?! After the surge of so many management schools and finishing programs, everyone should be superfine business tycoon!

But it does not happen that way, and there is simple single reason to it. Very few of the strugglers really manage to unite the magic of three keys, ability, effort and luck.

Ability is always in born. It is gifted to us by the creator of this universe. Our only part in it is to pin point the greatest gift within us. With sharp introspection, all the debris of praise and self love can be removed and real gold of ability can be mined out. Superficial training or effort can only polish what is already within you. There is nothing in any school of the world that you can learn up if you are a vase with a hole. Most of the times people have unreasonable assumptions about their abilities, often derived from their parents aspirations, peer pressure, blindly chosen role models, celebrities, fashionable trends etc. their true abilities remain unexplored while they keep banging their heads on something they are simply not born to do! With time real ability if not paid attention to, can perish a horrible death. And it can leave the person devoid of everything…. He lives a soul-less life, much worse than death. If you look around with open eyes, you will see half the population suffering the miseries of such soul-less life. Fear them, because you don’t want to be one of them…. And avoid that in time, by hunting down the secret of your true divine ability.

Effort is often viewed as a dumb thing! That if one shovels efforts in bushels; he can achieve anything he wants. This is total illusion. True efforts are not just mechanical act that is overdone. Efforts come only from a heart that is set with conviction and a body that reverberates with divine energy and will. Lack of efforts or laziness is never the obvious state of any human being. Laziness is only a symptom of some deep and hidden decease. Laziness can be outcome of immense stress, pressure of performance, fear of failure or simply lack of firm, convincing goal. Never treat laziness by over-work. If you do not feel like making effort, try to see why your mind is announcing such a strike against yourself! There is something it wants to say and you may have not heard it! When you do the effort, do it with whole heart poured into it. Otherwise it will never work for you.

Luck is not mere game of chances, for those who are dream-hunters, true winners.Luck is earned, just like ability has to be earned. People, who fail, often blame it on their poor luck. But I believe that is nothing like poor luck. But there is a decease called poor faith. A faithless person is everywhere followed by bad luck. If he continues to destroy his faith, he will not be able to walk a single step without tripping over! Everything we can do is because we know we can do it! You can walk because you fully know you can walk! Same way you can succeed if you fully know you can! Do not think that you can, know that you can. Faith is most ignored of all the gifts man has received from god. World of modernism so advanced and comfortable to live in, has robbed people of simple faith… We believe so much in reasoning and logical tussles that innocent faith is killed in the war of reasoning. There was a time when religion was entwined artfully in daily life. It provided great tonic to faith. But now that people have awakened so much, they do not need any god to help them. At least they seem to think so. But slowly they lose not just faith in god, but also faith in themselves! A life that is empty of faith is ever unsatisfied, ever restless, even if surrounded by most luxurious comforts. But on the other hand a person filled with faith and joy of God’s presence is dancing in happiness, without care for food or shelter! For such faithful person, God cares for everything. His wishes and desires are taken care of by the almighty himself! Luck is mere a toy in God’s hand! If so be his wish, he can pour you with all the luck in the world. It is very simple to be lucky… but yet very difficult!

Easy or difficult, it is worth it for sure. The taste of success is tastiest of all! And the one who collects these three magic keys of ability, effort and luck will always know the right thing to do….he will find success running behind him.

Sailors Of Light…

Dear readers,

This is my tottering effort at putting words together in rhyme…! please bear with me!

I dump my wrecked ship to join you on another adventure….
But you are on your own voyage…n you leave me ashore.
I watch the puffed chests of proud vast sails…
Ready to take in the winds… ready to fly! Not sail!
I watch your glittering mast…and flutter of thy flag…
I feel the eager breath of that salty venture brag…
I am deathly silent…
That is all you lament…
You expect a warm goodbye…
And like a statue, I just stand by….
I wish so much to stretch into a smile…
But I can see, my ship’s a wooden pile…..
I rode the thunders…I sailed into darkest of nights….
I may have done blunders…But I fought my best fights…
Your brave pat on my back, I remember…
As I sailed home, through the thunder…
I felt the dark night was a sun-filled day…
Your smile spread around me that way!
To hell with the ship, that wrecked in the winds!
Nothing can stop our enlivened minds…
I knew my wind rider is by my side…
Why to lament loss of a petty ride?!
If I held thy hand, I would fly to the moon!
Who cares for the seas and bounded lagoons?!
But you packed alone…adventure on your face…
The zest of your smile! I couldn’t have grimaced…
“When will’ya be back”, I ask..
My voice quivered as I shuffled my gasp…
I know my brave smile gave away the secret…
I only hope you knew, I felt no regret…
You touched my face, ever so light…
For moment elated, my heart took flight…
“wont take long, my dearest girl…
I will be gone and back in a swirl…
Never you lament… stop that tear…
My precious one, you live right here..
And with those words you gestured your heart…
But you punctured mine, with the words of dart….
Your love was agony… and I asked for it…
You wanted some smiles… just that I did…
With a tiny smile, I bid a goodbye…
Watched that sail, vanish on the sky…
Awaiting your ship I am standing right here…
Squinting to the blue, demanding it to clear…
Looking for an evidence of a rising mast…
Glittering in the sun, approaching me fast…
For below the mast…will be your liner…
And riding the liner will be my loner…
O wind rider, why to be a loner….
When I wait here, around the corner?!
You n me can build a new vessel…
Studded with stars and tied with tinsel…
Sails of will can never tear off…
Mast of vision can never wither off..
I will lay my body, at the keel of our ship…
If you look up and know how much I worship…
This mighty ship will sail through the thunders..
And it can survive as nothing but a wonder…
No doubt, we can reach our horizon….
On demand, we can fly to the moon…
Thinking of this, I stood right there…
Squinting to the blue, demanding it to clear…
Looking for the evidence of a rising mast…
Glittering in the sun, approaching me fast…
For below the mast…was your liner…
And riding the liner was my only lover…
I chirped in joy… and danced with frolic,
Just when you reached…I jumped on the deck!
There was the smile worth a thousand sun shine…
That was my man… back from the marine!
He never sailed beyond several knot…
He wanted me…so he right came back…!
Back on the sea…on the play of tide…
Here we come….Gales moved aside…
Sailing through the oceans…
Riding the torrents….
We sailed into sunrise…
Into light we vanish…

Crisp Winter…

It is crisp winter in the Indian subcontinent. And the Deccan plateau is covered as usual in its multicolored drape of deciduous forests. Here we do not have a single fall season. Every tree sheds its leaves at different time in winter. And the mountains always look covered in different colors all through the winter.

The air is crusty and cool. Though the sun heats up open meadows, there is pleasant cold shade under most of the trees. If you are tired hiking through the sunny countryside, the shady ovals marked under the trees call you to rest, occasionally dropping a solitary dried leaf in your lap….

Winter-scape of Sahyadri

The mornings and evenings stretch till mid day in winters… Except few hours of afternoon the weather is calling you out to run wild in sharp dry streaks of wintry air… You feel like running miles through solid curtains of morning fog hung in valleys, fighting with the chill. As sky grows brighter, sunlight comes to your help. The fogs scamper away and you can locate chirping bird far in the valley….

Then you wish to fly, to chirp, to sway on the treetops, just like the bird…

There is laughter in the air and inside you…. If you look down at yourself you see icy bright light in your body… The winter air lights you from within…. Like a bonfire night….under the deciduous tree, occasionally dropping a solitary dried leaf in your lap….
